Personal Community Project
My poster series is a visual celebration of skate culture, community, and progression. Each photo was carefully composed to capture a local skater in his element—at his own park, mid-action—inviting viewers to feel part of the moment and the community itself. I drew inspiration from classic skate photography, using wide-angle lenses to enhance the sense of motion and presence.

The text—Community, Progression, Dedication—anchors the series. These three words represent the essence of skating: connection, growth, and persistence. I wanted them to resonate not only with skaters but with anyone who values passion and perseverance, giving the work a universal message beyond the sport.

Building My Display

To bring the project full circle, I constructed a mini half-pipe display inspired by skatepark architecture. This structure offers a panoramic viewing experience and symbolizes the creative and physical space where skaters push their limits.

Initial Conception of Mini Skate Ramp

Each poster visually echoes its theme: thin expanding circles combined with images of skateparks around Milwaukee to represent “community", forward arrows for “progression” overlapping a picture of a triumphant skater, and strong vertical lines for “dedication” paired with a skater in-action . Together, these elements, that are meticulously placed,  form a cohesive experience—a tribute to skating’s spirit and the local community that fuels it.
